Paolo Massamatici nasce a Viareggio il 2 agosto 1969, cresce in una famiglia di musicisti e grazie a suo zio (il Direttore Luigi Massamatici) viene avviato alla musica. A 8 anni inizia a studiare Chitarra Classica mentre la sua carriera Oboistica inizia a 13 anni studiando con il Prof. D'Addabbo.
L’incontro con il basso elettrico avviene intorno ai 15 anni suonando nelle band con gruppi di amici. Il basso lo appassiona e inizia a suonare dal vivo con l’orchestra “I Musical” con la quale vince il trofeo per “la Migliore Orchestra dell’Anno”, premio della testata giornalistica “La Nazione” di Firenze.
Porta avanti con molta dedizione lo studio di chitarra, basso e oboe e durante il servizio militare nel 1988 entra a far parte come bassista dell’orchestra del Terzo Corpo di Armata a Milano, che lo porterà a lavorare anche con Lorenzo Cherubini in arte “Jovanotti”. In quel periodo suona a Milano come turnista per altri artisti e quando rientra a Viareggio suona tra l’altro con l’Orchestra del teatro Politeama.
Paolo Massamatici was born in Viareggio on 2 August 1969, he grew up in a family of musicians and thanks to his uncle (the director Luigi Massamatici) he was introduced to music. At the age of 8 he began studying Classical Guitar while his Oboistic career began at the age of 13 studying with Prof. D'Addabbo.
The encounter with the electric bass takes place around the age of 15 playing in bands with groups of friends. The bass fascinates him and he begins to play live with the "I Musical" orchestra with which he wins the trophy for "Best Orchestra of the Year", an award from the newspaper "La Nazione" of Florence.
He carries on with great dedication the study of guitar, bass and oboe and during his military service in 1988 he joins the orchestra of the Third Army Corps in Milan as bassist, which will lead him to work also with Lorenzo Cherubini aka "Jovanotti ”. In that period he plays in Milan as a session worker for other artists and when he returns to Viareggio he plays among others with the Politeama Theater Orchestra.
In 2000 he released his first solo CD with four unreleased songs entitled "The world was still outside", of which he composes the music, while the lyrics are by the writer Paolo Pacini.
He was the founder and member of the "Ganci Marci Quintet" and "In the Mood live Trio", together with the guitarist Albino Giannotti. The band performs live in many local Versilia and on television with the program "Aria Fresca", with the voice of the singer and friend Sandra Salvini. In the same period the trio also released a CD of covers developed and reworked with a particular artistic taste.
In 2016, thanks to his oboist friend Nicola Bimbi, he entered the three-year university course at the "Luigi Boccherini" Conservatory in Lucca, joining the prestigious Oboe school of Professor Elena Giannesi.
In the same year he met Alessandro Casini, a well-known DJ from Versilia (aka Alexdj), with whom he began a fruitful collaboration that still continues today, developing musical projects that bring the sounds of classical instruments to assere combined with dance music.
This is how the "Change Aperychic" project was born, which in addition to being a live project, leads to the recording of a CD, which is produced and distributed by CV Music Label. In addition to the collaboration with Alessandro Casini, he plays in various musical projects, making CDs internationally with important artists including Davide Zaccaria, Maria Anadon, Telmo Pires, Carolina Vieira and many others.

Nel 2000 esce il suo primo CD da solista con quattro brani inediti dal titolo “Il mondo era fermo fuori”, di cui compone le musiche, mentre i testi sono dello scrittore Paolo Pacini.
E’ stato fondatore e componente dei “Ganci Marci Quintet” e “In the Mood live Trio”, insieme al chitarrista Albino Giannotti. La band si esibisce dal vivo in molti locali versiliesi e in televisione con il programma “Aria Fresca”, con la voce della cantante e amica Sandra Salvini. Nello stesso periodo il trio realizza anche un CD di cover sviluppate e rielaborate con un particolare gusto artistico.
Nel 2016, grazie all'amico oboista Nicola Bimbi, accede al triennio universitario del Conservatorio “Luigi Boccherini” di Lucca, entrando a far parte della prestigiosa scuola di Oboe della Professoressa Elena Giannesi.
Nello stesso anno conosce Alessandro Casini noto DJ versiliese (in arte Alexdj), con cui inizia una proficua collaborazione che continua tuttora oggi, sviluppando progetti musicali che portano le sonorità degli strumenti classici ad assere abbinate alla musica dance.
Nasce così il progetto “Change Aperychic”, che oltre ad essere un progetto live, porta alla registrazione di un CD, che viene prodotto e distribuito dalla CV Music Label. Oltre alla collaborazione con Alessandro Casini, suona in diversi progetti musicali, realizzando CD a livello internazionale con importanti artisti tra cui Davide Zaccaria, Maria Anadon, Telmo Pires, Carolina Vieira e molti altri.
